Agitators For US Invasion Need Psychiatric Test- Group

By Muhammad Lawal
The Northern Elders Political Development Group has called for psychiatric test for those agitating for military action against Nigeria.
Recall that US President Donald Trump had issued threat of possible invasion of Nigeria following calls by some Nigerians.
But presenting the northern group’s communique shortly after its 10th meeting in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, National Coordinator and Chairman, Malam Yusuf Abubakar, said a call for psychiatric test was necessary in view of the agitators’ extremist views.
“Those calling on US to invade Nigeria are not patriotic and they need to go for a psychiatric diagnosis to check their mental well-being,” the communique said
It also urged the DSS to invite Sen. Kabiru Marafa over his alleged call for invasion of the country by the US, claiming this was unpatriotic.
While also condemning one Abdullahi Shinkafi for his continuous attacks on the incumbent administration, the group called on security agencies to investigate some politicians in Zamfara, Katsina and other places.
It lamented that such politicians use media outlets to spread fake news to create tension and instability.
The group also urged Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara to concentrate on fighting insecurity and poverty rather than campaigning for the removal of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
It further called on northern leaders, especially governors, to forge synergy in tackling insecurity and poverty in the region.
“Now is the appropriate time to do so instead of engaging in acrimony and politicising security issues.
“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in view of the herculean efforts by security agencies who freed the abducted students of GGCS Maga without any loss of life,” it said.
The group commended Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi and Matawalle for the collaborative efforts in freeing the Maga students.
It advised traditional rulers and religious leaders to unite the people and evolve ways to instill discipline in youths, particularly in creating a remedy to the abuse of social media.
