Ease Of Doing Business Threathened As FCTA Warns Hotels, Event Centres Against Hosting Illegal Groups

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has warned owners of event centres, hotels and other public facilities in the FCT against granting access to illegal organisations for meetings and related activities.
The warning is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka.
The administration stated that land allocations in the FCT were strictly meant for lawful activities, adding that the use of event centres, hotels and other public buildings would now be closely monitored.
According to the FCTA, the measure is aimed at ensuring the security of lives and property in the territory as well as sustaining ongoing efforts by security agencies to maintain peace and order.
It warned that title documents of any event centre, hotel or public facility used by illegal organisations for gatherings capable of threatening public peace would be revoked.
“This is aimed at ensuring that they are not used by illegal organisations for gatherings capable of disrupting the peace of the nation’s capital.
“Owners of these facilities are, therefore, urged to take cognisance of the legality of organisations seeking to use their facilities and the purpose before letting them out,” the statement said.
The administration also advised owners and managers of such facilities to grant access only to the leadership of political parties recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and maintain proper records of all transactions.
“Failure to comply with this directive will result in revocation of the title documents of such properties,” it added.
